barbenheimer double feature
Cy and I are doing the Barbenheimer double feature, but unfortunately we just didn't have a schedule that could accommodate both the movies on the same day.
So, we decided to break it up into two different days (on two different weeks...)! Spoilers below:
Tuesday, July 25, 2023 - Barbie
Of course, we’re starting with Barbie!
yay! |
I unfortunately had rehearsal almost the entire day so we had to watch Barbie around 6PM. For reference, my (kind of) curfew is 8PM so I was pretty nervous.
Barbie is worth it though. I changed out of my rehearsal clothes and into my pretty pink outfit and put a bow in my hair. Cy picked me up and we headed to the cinema.
Admittedly, we were late since the food took foreeever, but it was actually pretty worth it bc the food was really good. We got a coney island hotdog, some sour cream chips, and soda.
Barbie was seriously visually stunning. Even though we entered after the introduction, it was easy to catch up. I loved the message it conveyed but I hated Ken with a passion. Seriously…the way he took over Barbieland so easily, with so little remorse! Wanted to punch him through the screen. I also kinda hated the way Barbie apologized to Ken. Ugh.
But it made me cry so 10/10.
Tuesday, August 1, 2023 - Oppenheimer
I’m going to be honest. Oppenheimer was so much better than I thought it would be!
It was so interesting. Cillian Murphy was such an amazing actor. One thing though, his eyes got bluer everytime I saw him on screen. It was actually kinda funny.
But seriously, Oppenheimer was really intense. It was R16, I think (they made us give them our IDs), but even I was like…am I allowed to watch this?
I’m gonna give it a 10/10 too since I really enjoyed it. I would love to dissect this more once I have time but I know I’m probably just going to watch a deep dive into Oppie’s history.
After the movie, I was starving so we both got some bacsilog because it was the perfect comfort food after the tension we suffered through during Oppenheimer.
Then we went to do some karaoke!
you’re so vainnnn |
I enjoyed both films so this double feature was definitely worth it. One thing though, Oppenheimer tickets were significantly more expensive than Barbie tickets. Is it because it’s so much longer?
My final score for both these films are obviously 100/100.
barbenheimer is a hood classic 9.00000999/10 (pls help me im being forced to rate this)
