beauty and the beast (1/2)

Aaaand a month after the first rehearsal week, we finally had our second and probably last non-stop rehearsal week + our show dates!

Things I did to get ready for the show: I got blonde highlights, gel nails, and a lash lift. And no one can stop me because I have theatre kid immunity. Mwahahaha. Thank you to our director for granting us this shield (plus the elevator pass).

I can't find a single picture without my face on it so...here's the only picture in this post:

quackson!

His name is Quackson and he is also a part of the show. If you hadn't already read it from the title, the show we're doing is *drumroll* Beauty and the Beast!

I actually have some lore on him. Basically, we once had a very majestic white duck. There's a scene during Belle where Gaston shoots a bird in the air and Lefou has to catch it. That majestic white duck for that scene went missing THREE DAYS before the show. It was a tragedy. No one knew where it was or what happened to it. So then we had a replacement: the Lefou brought this duck from home. However, another problem arose...the duck was too fat. It couldn't fit inside Lefou's bag.

I happened to read their conversation in the groupchat saying they were going to buy a new duck. Quackson and I made eye contact and in that moment I knew I had to make him a star. And that is how Quackson got casted in Beauty and the Beast. He is now known schoolwide. Super inspiring story if you ask me.

Loool, anyway, if you were curious, I played Babette! You would not believe how many times I got slutshamed this week. Comes with the territory I guess...

We did a total of four shows this week, and four again next next week. This week has been so tiring yet so rewarding. I'm so happy to be in a show again, especially one with such a big cast!

There's been such great feedback that I can't wait to do reruns! We're not even done with our current run but I'm really just so excited to be something as amazing as this.

From getting ready to getting unready, this has been such a great experience that my heart feels so heavy to think we only have FOUR SHOWS LEFT. Granted, we've only done four shows so far...but still!!! It's so strange to think we only have four more performances after we've spent almost a year rehearsing.

But even then, there's more to do and more to make happy, so I'll see you again next next week!
